FREEDOM PRESS BUREAU

Hyderabad, Oct 25

“The Telangana government will establish a Common Facility Centre (CFC) in Gachibowli to strengthen the leather industry and promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste (SC) youth,” Minister for IT, Industries and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu said on Saturday.

Reviewing the activities of the Telangana Leather Industries Promotion Corporation (TGLIPC) at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Secretariat, the Minister said the proposed CFC would be developed on 3.5 acres under a hub-and-spoke model. The centre will support artisans in design, product development and branding to improve the value and marketability of leather products.

“The government is also planning to establish eco-friendly tanneries conforming to international standards at Rukmapur in Choppadandi mandal of Karimnagar district. The project is expected to generate employment for around 1,000 people”, Sridhar Babu said.

He further said that flatted factory complexes under the Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) would be developed on a plug-and-play model at Jammikunta in Huzurabad constituency and at Armoor to support micro and small enterprises.
The Minister directed officials to conduct field inspections of lands previously allotted to the Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDCAP) and submit a report on their present status.

Special Secretary for Industries Krishna Aditya, IAS Director of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthy, TGLIPC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Prashanth Kumar, and Telangana State Leather Industrial Promotion Cooperative Society president Dr. Arepalli Rajender attended the review meeting.
