HYDERABAD, Oct 24

Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has assured journalists that the state government is working to provide house sites in suitable residential areas without legal complications.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Minister said the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was committed to resolving the long-pending housing issue and ensuring a permanent solution for journalists who have been waiting for nearly two decades.

Ponguleti recalled that land allotment orders for the Journalists’ Housing Society were issued in 2008 during the tenure of former undivided Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. However, the process was delayed due to litigation in the Supreme Court. He said the Congress government handed over land to the society at a programme held at Ravindra Bharathi on September 8, 2024, but further legal complications arose following the court’s final orders.

The Minister said he had discussed the issue several times with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other Cabinet colleagues to work out a legally sustainable solution. He assured journalists that the government would take necessary steps to provide residential plots in locations suitable for families and prevent a recurrence of past legal disputes.

Ponguleti reiterated that the government prioritised journalists’ welfare, recognising their important role in connecting the public with the government and strengthening democracy.
