Current and former MLAs to gather at Raj Assembly’s ‘Amrit Utsav’ from tomorrow, to be inaugurated by LS Speaker Om Birla

Jaipur, July 14 (IANS) The Rajasthan Assembly will mark its 75th year with a special gathering of current and former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) on Wednesday, inaugurating the Assembly’s ‘Amrit Utsav’ celebrations, officials said on Tuesday.
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani reviewed the preparations for the event on Tuesday and inspected the venue and related arrangements.
During the inspection, Devnani directed government officials to ensure seamless arrangements for the public representatives arriving from across the state.
Special emphasis has been placed on accommodation, transportation, and medical facilities, particularly for senior and elderly former MLAs, to ensure their comfort throughout the event.
Describing the occasion as “historic”, the Assembly Speaker said this is the first event of the Assembly’s ‘Amrit Utsav’ and will bring together both current and former legislators on a common platform.
Former MLAs began arriving in Jaipur on Tuesday, with accommodation arranged at the Circuit House, Dak Bungalow, MLA Residence Guest House, and the Panchayati Raj Institute Guest House.
Members of Parliament from Rajasthan, representing both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, have also been invited to participate. Preparations for the celebrations are in full swing.
Welcome hoardings have been installed across Jaipur, while the Rajasthan Assembly building has been illuminated to commemorate the milestone.
Speaker Devnani noted that this is the first time the State Assembly has organised such a commemorative event, making it a landmark occasion in its history.
The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, while former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory ceremony.
The programme will commence at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, with the closing ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m.
Governor Haribhau Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will attend as distinguished guests.
State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully, and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Secretary Sandeep Sharma will also participate in the celebrations.
As part of the programme, two thematic sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoon focusing on significant legislation enacted by the Rajasthan Assembly over the past 75 years.
Sixteen serving and former MLAs will deliberate on 24 landmark laws and their contribution to the state’s legislative and governance framework.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is scheduled to arrive in Jaipur at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday and proceed from the airport to Lok Bhavan before reaching the State Assembly at 10 a.m. to inaugurate the commemorative gathering of current and former MLAs.
