Vijay‘s first 100 days laid foundation for clean governance: TN Assembly Speaker

Chennai, Aug 17(IANS) Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Monday described Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s first 100 days in office as the beginning of a major administrative transformation in the state.
Addressing the Assembly on the milestone, Prabhakar said the TVK government sought to place public welfare, accountability and clean administration at the centre of governance.
Its early decisions, he said, reflected an effort to respond directly to the needs of people statewide.
The Speaker drew attention to the government’s measures aimed at strengthening women’s safety. He said these initiatives, along with programmes intended to improve the economic position of vulnerable families, had established the administration’s people-oriented character.
Prabhakar also highlighted policies concerning electricity, agriculture, housing and employment. The provision of 200 units of free electricity, the waiver of cooperative farm loans and the proposed construction of quality houses for poor families were among the major steps cited by him.
The government’s focus on training young people and equipping them with skills required by emerging industries had the potential to widen employment opportunities across Tamil Nadu, he said. Such programmes were important at a time when educated youth were seeking jobs and avenues for rapid advancement.
He said that the initiatives launched during the first 100 days demonstrated that the administration was not limiting itself to short-term relief measures. It was attempting to build the foundations for inclusive growth, stronger public institutions and improved delivery of essential services.
The Speaker said Vijay’s government had set out to establish a transparent and corruption-free system in which public resources would be used, and the benefits of development would reach sections of society.
The first 100 days, he added, had created a framework for pursuing the state’s social and economic ambitions.
Prabhakar maintained that the milestone should be viewed as the opening phase of a wider programme to make Tamil Nadu stronger, more prosperous and secure.
He said the Chief Minister’s emphasis on welfare, safety, skills and job creation had strengthened public confidence in the government.
The Speaker’s remarks came as the TVK administration completed 100 days since assuming office. The occasion has prompted the government to present a record of its early policy decisions and outline its priorities for the coming months, with welfare expansion, employment generation, transparent administration and balanced development forming the central themes.
