Two more held in Karni Sena youth leader murder case in Jharkhand, total arrests reach 16

Jamshedpur, July 15 (IANS) Jharkhand Police have arrested two more persons in the high-profile murder case of Himanshu Singh, a young leader of the Karni Sena, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 16, officials said on Wednesday.
Investigators have also recovered a scooter allegedly used to help the main accused evade arrest following the crime. Police said the investigation is almost complete and a chargesheet will be filed in the court soon.
City SP Lalit Kumar Meena said on Wednesday that the arrested individuals have been identified as Raghavendra Kumar, alias Ravindra Kumar, alias “Ghere” (40), and Ganesh Machhua (34).
Based on information provided during interrogation, police recovered a TVS Activa scooter that was allegedly used to transport and conceal the main accused after the murder, helping them escape from the area.
The murder took place on the night of June 27 outside the Double Down (DD) Bar in the Bistupur police station area of Jamshedpur. Himanshu Singh was attacked with sharp-edged weapons and sustained critical injuries. He later succumbed to his wounds during treatment. Following the incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the case.
The SIT carried out a series of raids based on CCTV footage, technical evidence and intelligence inputs. During the investigation, police found that Ganesh Machhua had played a significant role in sheltering and helping the principal accused — Vishwanath Mandal, alias “Bodra”, Rahul Dubey, and Raghavendra, alias “Ghere” — escape after the crime.
The main accused in the case, Vishwanath Mandal, alias “Bodra”, who carried a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head, had surrendered before a court in Jamshedpur a few days ago.
Police had earlier arrested several other accused, including the owner of Double Down Bar, Neeraj Singh.
Investigators also recovered sharp-edged weapons, including choppers, axes, and knives, during the probe.
The City SP further said that Ganesh Machhua has a criminal record and had previously been jailed in two cases related to illegal liquor trade.
Police claim that all 16 accused linked to the murder are now in custody. The investigation has entered its final stage, and the chargesheet is expected to be submitted in court shortly.
