Telangana Rice Dealers Under Scanner for Alleged Short-Weighting; Bags Marked 26 Kg Contain Less Than 25 Kg

The Freedom Press
Hyderabad Oct 29: Consumers have been urged to exercise caution while purchasing rice bags, following allegations that some rice dealers in Telangana are selling bags printed with a weight of 26 kg that reportedly contain less than 25 kg of rice.
According to reports, the alleged practice involves charging consumers for more rice than they actually receive, resulting in financial losses for buyers. Officials have advised consumers to check the weight printed on the bags and verify the actual quantity before making a purchase.
The reports also allege that printing 26 kg on the bags may be linked to attempts by some dealers to evade GST. The allegations are yet to be independently verified, and further details regarding official inspections and action against the dealers are awaited.
Consumers have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspected cases of underweight packaging or overcharging to the concerned authorities
