Pune Woman Police Constable Under Scanner for Allegedly Driving Drunk on Wrong Side

Pune Oct 28: A woman police constable has come under scrutiny after a video allegedly showed her driving on the wrong side of the road under the influence of alcohol in Manjari, Pune, on Tuesday, October 27.

According to reports, motorists recorded the incident and shared the footage on social media after spotting her vehicle moving against traffic. The 39-year-old constable is posted at Kalepadal police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jeevan Beniwal reportedly confirmed that the police have initiated the process of registering an FIR against her. Officials are also preparing suspension orders and collecting her service details to initiate departmental proceedings.

Reports stated that the constable was wearing her uniform despite being on casual leave. Police are also investigating whether she had attended a party in Pune’s Bund Garden area before the incident.

Her statement and medical report are awaited. As of the time of reporting, the FIR had not yet been registered.

Further action is expected based on the findings of the investigation and departmental inquiry.
