Hyderabad Oct 24: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has taken a dig at the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, saying Hyderabad, once renowned for Charminar, biryani, Irani chai and pearls, is increasingly being associated with mosquitoes and dog-bite incidents.

Addressing the party’s ‘Rajadhani Ranabheri’ meeting in Miyapur on October 23, Kavitha criticized the government over what she described as a failure to provide basic civic amenities, including safe drinking water, proper roads and an efficient drainage system.

She said residents continued to face problems such as mosquito infestation, stray dog attacks and poorly maintained streetlights. Her remarks highlighted concerns over civic infrastructure and public health in the city.

Kavitha also questioned the government’s claims of developing Hyderabad as a global city, arguing that residents’ everyday needs must receive greater attention.

She called for better healthcare facilities, including more doctors at Basthi Dawakhanas and at least one 24-hour hospital in every municipal division. She also proposed improved facilities for roadside vendors.

Her comments come amid continuing concerns over Hyderabad’s mosquito menace, with residents in several localities reporting problems, particularly during the evening and night. //eom//
