Hyderabad Oct 30: Heavy rainfall lashed Hyderabad on Friday evening, triggering waterlogging at several locations and severely disrupting traffic movement across the city. The situation was particularly difficult in and around the IT corridor, where long queues of vehicles crawled at a snail’s pace, with commuters facing considerable delays.

Traffic movement came almost to a grinding halt at several busy stretches in the IT hub surroundings as accumulated rainwater affected road conditions. Traffic police personnel and HYDRAA teams remained busy regulating vehicular movement and clearing water from affected locations. Waterlogging continues to be a major concern in these areas whenever the city receives heavy rainfall.

According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, waterlogging was reported on the PVNR Expressway at Pillar Nos. 117 and 196 on the stretch towards Aramghar. The Monsoon Emergency Team, along with Kulsumpura traffic personnel, monitored the situation near Pillar No. 117.

Near Puranapool Graveyard, HYDRAA teams deployed motor pumps to clear accumulated rainwater, while Falaknuma traffic personnel regulated vehicular movement and assisted commuters.

Traffic towards Nalgonda X Roads also moved slowly near Akshaya Hotel in Malakpet. Vehicular movement was similarly affected around Praja Bhavan, where Panjagutta traffic personnel were deployed to manage the situation.

In Banjara Hills, waterlogging near BVB and the Tajmahal U-turn prompted traffic police to advise commuters travelling from Road Nos. 10 and 12 to avoid the KBR one-way route via Agrasen Island, Tajmahal U-turn, BVB and Journalist Colony until conditions improve.

Traffic police urged motorists to drive cautiously, use alternative routes wherever possible and cooperate with personnel deployed at affected locations.
