The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.136 kg of suspected methamphetamine, estimated to be worth around Rs 1.1 crore, from a passenger bus arriving in Hyderabad from Bhopal, officials said on Saturday.

Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officials of the Hyderabad Zonal Unit (HZU) searched the bus on October 23 and recovered four packets containing the suspected narcotic substance concealed beneath mattresses in sleeper berths.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine using a field-testing kit, the Agency said in a release.

A preliminary enquiry revealed that the passengers occupying the berths had boarded the bus at Bhopal and alighted at Nagpur.

The suspected methamphetamine, weighing 1.136 kg (gross), was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

No arrests were made in the case, and further investigation is underway, the release added.
