Congress vows united campaign in Uttarakhand, warns against individual efforts

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal on Monday held a meeting with former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat to review and strengthen the party’s ongoing election campaigns in the hill state.
During the discussions, it was firmly conveyed that all campaign activities in Uttarakhand would be conducted jointly by Congress leaders under a single banner. The efforts will be guided exclusively by the leadership of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The singular objective, Venugopal said, is to secure victory for the party in the upcoming elections. He made it clear that the party would not tolerate any individual or parallel campaigns. Only collective programmes planned and approved by the party organisation will be permitted. This directive aims to ensure discipline, cohesion and a focused strategy across the state unit.
“Met with Uttarakhand ex-CM Harish Rawat ji to discuss the ongoing campaigns in the election-going state. It was made clear that our campaigns will be taken forward jointly along with all Uttarakhand leaders, solely under the Congress banner under Mallikarjun Kharge ji and LOP Rahul Gandhi ji’s leadership, with the singular aim of ensuring the party’s victory,” he wrote on his X handle.
The meeting showcases the importance of unity among all Uttarakhand Congress leaders. By working together under the central leadership’s guidance, the party seeks to present a strong and coordinated challenge.
Venugopal expressed full confidence that the energy, dedication and hard work of the entire state organisation would help Congress emerge victorious in Uttarakhand.
The discussions come at a time when the party is intensifying its organisational and outreach efforts in the state.
Leaders have been directed to prioritise collective mobilisation, door-to-door contact and issue-based campaigns rather than personalised initiatives.
The leadership believes that a disciplined, united approach will maximise the party’s electoral prospects.
Venugopal’s interaction with Rawat, a senior and influential figure in Uttarakhand politics, signals the high command’s intent to keep experienced leaders closely involved while maintaining strict organisational control.
The message from the AICC general secretary was unambiguous: the Congress will fight as one team under Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, with no room for factional or individual agendas.
Party sources indicated that similar coordination meetings are expected with other state leaders to reinforce the collective campaign strategy.
The focus remains on consolidating the organisation, energising workers and delivering a clear, unified message to the electorate. With the election process gathering pace, the Congress high command’s insistence on joint programmes under a single leadership structure reflects its determination to avoid the pitfalls of internal divisions.
