Bihar: Nishant Kumar to embark on state-wide Yatra from May 3

Patna, April 28 (IANS) Nishant Kumar, son of former Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar, is set to embark on a state-wide tour titled ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ beginning May 3.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Nishant Kumar will commence his maiden political journey from the historic region of Champaran.
Announcing the tour, JD(U) Bihar State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha said the yatra will cover all districts of the state in a phased manner.
During the tour, Nishant Kumar will convey the message of development, good governance, and social harmony achieved under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
He will also directly interact with party workers at every level—from district units to Panchayats.
Kushwaha stated that the proposed tour has generated significant enthusiasm among party leaders, workers, and the general public.
He noted that Nishant Kumar will engage in one-on-one interactions, much like a grassroots party worker, strengthening organisational connections.
The tour contingent will include senior JD(U) leaders, such as Shravan Kumar, as well as other party leaders and local MLAs.
According to Umesh Singh Kushwaha, Nishant Kumar’s active involvement—despite not holding any formal position—has infused the organisation with renewed energy.
The first phase of the yatra is scheduled for May 3–4, during which he will visit Bagaha and Bettiah.
The second phase will begin on May 7 in Vaishali, where he will again engage with party workers at various levels.
Umesh Kushwaha further revealed that the name ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ was personally chosen by Nishant Kumar himself.
He added that Nishant’s growing engagement in party activities has already boosted worker morale, and that this statewide outreach is expected to further strengthen the party’s organisational structure.
Party leaders believe that through direct dialogue and personal outreach, Nishant Kumar aims to consolidate the JD(U)’s grassroots base and energise its cadre across Bihar.
The Yatra will also test Nishant Kumar’s political temperament.
