Patna, April 16 (IANS) An emotional moment unfolded at a JD(U) event in Bihar as senior leader Ashok Choudhary broke down while speaking about former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The situation became particularly poignant when Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, who was present at the event, stepped forward to console him.
The occasion marked the launch of a short film titled “Mera Neta, Mera Abhiman” (My Leader, My Pride), unveiled by Nishant Kumar at the JD(U) office.
The film, along with a dedicated song, highlights Nitish Kumar’s governance and developmental work over the past two decades.
Speaking at the event, Ashok Choudhary reflected on Nitish Kumar’s long political journey and his contributions to Bihar’s development.
However, as soon as he mentioned Nitish Kumar, he became visibly emotional, breaking down and struggling to continue his speech.
The emotional moment underscored the deep personal and political bond shared within the party.
After the film’s launch, the atmosphere turned sombre as Choudhary wept openly.
Nishant Kumar placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder, offering comfort as the gathering watched in silence.
Regaining composure, Ashok Choudhary said, “Nitish Kumar decided to move to the Rajya Sabha. While he is stepping away, working alongside him has been a unique experience. Every individual has a distinct way of functioning, and his approach was truly exceptional.”
He added that the transition had come suddenly, leaving many without time to fully process it.
“We had hoped he would continue for another five years and fulfil the dreams he envisioned for Bihar. For us, he was not just the Chief Minister but a guardian figure,” he said.
Choudhary concluded by expressing confidence that Nitish Kumar’s guidance would continue to shape Bihar’s political and developmental direction even after he departs from the post.
The emotional scenes at the event reflect the deep impact of Nitish Kumar’s long tenure, marking not just a political transition but a deeply personal moment for many within his party.
