Bengaluru emerges as India’s top GCC leadership hub with over 15,000 active leaders

New Delhi, April 29 (IANS) Bengaluru’s emerged as India’s strongest GCC leadership hotspot with an active leadership pool of over 15,000 professionals, high retention and net‑positive movement of staff position, a report said on Wednesday.
The report from staffing firm Xpheno Research said global enterprises are increasingly choosing India’s GCC route for access to specialised capabilities and leadership quality rather than cost arbitrage.
The report said that the city’s overall leadership density in GCC workforce stands at 1:50, which meant one in every 50 professionals is in a leadership role.
Mid and senior leadership densities stood at 1:85 and 1:180 respectively, and the total leadership pool recorded 8 per cent annual net growth.
The report noted Bengaluru’s leadership ecosystem having strong sustainability and stability as the median tenure for GCC leaders in the city is 6.5 years, and the net movement over the past 12 months was positive, with 560 leaders moving in and 390 moving out.
“Cost arbitrage is no longer the primary driver for GCCs entering India. Bengaluru’s strong leadership quotient, backed by scale, experience, and global exposure, continues to make it the most preferred destination for global enterprises setting up capability centers,” said Kamal Karanth, Co-founder, Xpheno.
Sectoral strengths continue to power Bengaluru’s GCC leadership base, with the ecosystem predominantly led by the BFSI sector, which accounts for 80 per cent of the leadership pool, followed by IT/ITeS at 11 per cent and Manufacturing at 4 per cent.
Collectively, these three sectors contribute over 95 per cent of Bengaluru’s GCC leadership talent pool.
The report also noted that Bengaluru’s GCC ecosystem is evolving beyond traditional strengths, with increasing demand for leadership across functions such as sales, finance, operations, HR, and IT – collectively accounting for over 90 per cent of leadership roles.
