Amit Shah Accuses Congress of Protecting Illegal Immigrants, Vows to Remove Infiltrators from Voter Lists

Hyderabad, Nov 2: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday accused the Congress of opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to protect alleged Bangladeshi infiltrators and prevent their removal from voter lists.
Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, Shah alleged that the Congress was attempting to shield illegal immigrants by opposing the electoral roll revision exercise. He specifically targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over their opposition to the SIR process.
“By opposing the SIR, the Congress party wants to protect Bangladeshi infiltrators in the country’s electoral rolls,” Shah said.
He asserted that the BJP would not be deterred by political opposition and would ensure that the names of all alleged infiltrators were removed from electoral rolls.
“Rahul ji and Revanth Reddy ji can put in as much effort as they want. The BJP will ensure that every single infiltrator is removed from the voter list and driven out of the country,” he said.
Shah’s remarks come amid an ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and Congress over the SIR exercise, which has become a major issue in the political discourse in Telangana and other parts of the country.
The BJP has defended the revision exercise as necessary to identify and remove ineligible voters, while opposition parties have raised concerns over its implementation and potential impact on eligible voters.
