Adilabad, November 4: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on here Wednesday arrested a Sub-Inspector of Police attached to Bazarhath Noor Police Station in Adilabad district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant in exchange for official favour.

According to an ACB press release, the accused officer, G. Ramesh, initially demanded ₹50,000 and later reduced the amount to ₹40,000 following the complainant’s request. He allegedly threatened to implicate the complainant in a case registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to the alleged suicide of an unmarried woman, if he failed to pay the bribe.
