Owaisi Welcomes DEO’s Statement on Hyderabad Voter Rolls, Takes Dig at Amit Shah

Hyderabad Nov 04: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has welcomed District Election Officer (DEO) R.V. Karnan’s statement that no illegal immigrants were found in Hyderabad’s electoral rolls, taking a sarcastic swipe at those who had repeatedly alleged the presence of illegal immigrants in the city.

Taking strong exception against the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said those who had promised a “surgical strike” on Hyderabad’s voter list must now explain their earlier allegations.

Owaisi also criticised the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, saying it had caused considerable hardship to poor people. He said AIMIM had helped all eligible voters, irrespective of their religion, complete the verification process.

It may be mentioned here that people had to suffer a lot for the document submission. They had to make round of the offices to find out whether they were eligible voters or not. Followed long queues, waited hours, and had a difficult time to prove their respective parents electoral proof.
