KTR Accuses Congress Government of Corruption, Demands Scrapping of Musi Project

Hyderabad, October 29: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has accused the Congress government in Telangana of corruption and neglecting farmers, demanding the release of pending Rythu Bandhu payments and the immediate suspension of the proposed Musi riverfront development project.

Referring to the alleged Radial Road scam, Rama Rao cited remarks attributed to Congress MLA Rajgopal Reddy and builder Nama Ramesh, who reportedly alleged intimidation by the Chief Minister’s Office over tender-related matters. Rama Rao accused the government of operating a 30 per cent commission system and alleged that the money was reaching Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Criticising the government’s priorities, the BRS leader questioned the proposed expenditure of Rs 1.5 lakh crore on beautification projects while farmers were allegedly facing water and electricity shortages. He demanded the immediate release of three pending Rythu Bandhu instalments, along with the payment due for the upcoming Rabi season.

Rama Rao also sought the disbursement of promised assistance to 21 lakh tenant farmers and demanded payment of Rs 36,000 to agricultural labourers, claiming that the promised monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 had remained unpaid for 36 months.

Questioning the Musi project, he alleged that it was being pursued without a public hearing or a publicly available Detailed Project Report (DPR). He demanded that the project be postponed, the DPR placed in the public domain and a transparent public hearing conducted. He also referred to a pending case before the National Green Tribunal.

Recalling the BRS team’s visit to the Kannepalli pump house on the Godavari River on June 19, 2026, Rama Rao said the party had urged the government to utilise existing infrastructure to lift downstream water and protect farmers from possible El Niño-related conditions.

Accusing the Congress government of ignoring farmers’ concerns, he demanded that the Musi project be scrapped and its proposed funds redirected towards agricultural support. He warned that the BRS would continue to hold the government accountable.
