NCW chief Vijaya Rahatkar leads talks on empowerment, cyber crime prevention

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 22 (IANS) National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar on Saturday led discussions on women’s empowerment and policing against cyber crime as part of a capacity building programme for Maharashtra Police officers, an official said.
Rahatkar’s two-day visit, which concluded on Saturday, included “Nari Hunkar” Kavyasandhya, “Shakti and Suraksha” capacity-building programme for Maharashtra Police and Yashoda AI, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Commission for Women.
The NCW Chairperson said, “The ‘Nari Hunkar’ program is a powerful initiative to spread the message of women’s empowerment, respect, and equality to every individual.”
In ‘Nari Hunkar’, the fiery poems of the country’s renowned poetesses Kavita Tiwari, Sonal Jain, Deepa Saini, and Sarita Jain made the evening memorable, a statement issued by the NCW said.
“Adorned with the diverse hues of incisive thoughts, vigorous words, sensitive emotions, and humour, the event transformed the entire ambiance into a realm of poetry,” it said.
Praising the participants, Rahatkar said, “Words have the power to change society. Poetry is not merely an expression of emotions; it is a powerful medium for reaching ideas to every individual, giving voice to sensitivities, and awakening the consciousness of positive change.”
“This poetic evening of ‘Nari Hunkar’ is a beautiful example of this very power,” she added.
Earlier, in a message on social media platform X, the NCW Chief shared insights on marriages.
“Marriage is not the name of Perfection, but of Patience! Marriage is not merely living together under one roof, but understanding each other and walking together at every stage of life. When dialogue begins even before marriage, this journey of relationships becomes even easier and stronger,” she wrote.
Rahatkar also encouraged women to fulfil their dreams.
In another message on X, the NCW Chief said, “Strong women don’t need permission, they need possibilities. Every woman deserves the freedom to dream, grow and create her own path. Let’s support women with equal opportunities, respect and the confidence to achieve their goals.”
