Delhi BJP files police complaint against fake photo of Nitin Nabin with tricolour

New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra on Monday condemned attempts by anti-social elements to insult the national flag by creating a fake photograph showing BJP national president Nitin Nabin holding the tricolour upside down and circulating it on social media. The party also filed a police complaint over the episode.
He urged the Delhi Police to investigate the creation and attempted circulation of the fake photograph of BJP chief Nabin and register a case against the person or persons responsible.
Malhotra said the culprits even tried circulating the fake photograph through social media platforms, including X, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
Malhotra also sent a three-member delegation of the Delhi BJP, comprising State vice president Rajesh Bhatia, State Minister Gaurav Khari and Legal Cell Convenor Neeraj, to meet Delhi Special Commissioner of Police, Devesh Srivastava, and hand him a complaint over the episode.
The delegation submitted a complaint demanding a detailed investigation into the incident involving the circulation of a photograph, falsely depicting Nitin Nabin holding the national flag upside down, and sought the arrest of those responsible.
Malhotra said that the defeated and frustrated Opposition, which is losing power state after state, is continuously attempting to misuse social media to disturb the atmosphere in the country.
However, he asserted that BJP workers will never allow such malicious attempts by the Opposition to succeed.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi BJP praised the Delhi Police’s prompt action to arrest an AAP leader, facing a complaint of encroaching on a Dalit colleague’s property in south-east Delhi.
Aam Aadmi Party’s National Council Member Sri Chand Vohra was arrested by Delhi Police from Gwalior for alleged encroachment of the property of his party’s Dalit worker Rakesh Kumar in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur Extension.
