Property cards for ‘lal dora’ areas soon, Delhi CM reviews progress of SVAMITVA scheme
New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) In a major relief for the city residents residing in the ‘Lal Dora’ region, the Delhi government is set to issue digital property cards for their residential property lying within its limits.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a review meeting of the ‘SVAMITVA’ (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) on Tuesday, during which a detailed discussion was held on the rollout and issuance of smart property cards.
The Chief Minister noted that the residents of ‘Lal Dora’ areas have faced numerous difficulties due to the lack of organised and authentic property records, but all that was going to become a ‘thing of the past’ with the creation of digital records of properties.
The Delhi Government is set to issue smart property cards to all eligible individuals, and a grand event is likely to be organised for the purpose.
The digital records of ‘Lal Dora’ properties are being created, and the residents will soon receive smart PVC cards featuring QR codes.
According to government records, a total of 48 villages were surveyed under the SVAMITVA scheme, out of which digital property cards have been prepared for 30 villages.
The Chief Minister stated that the final property cards are ready and that those in 30 villages falling under ‘lal dora’ will soon receive digital ownership of their land.
She said that surveys covering 12,232 properties have been conducted, out of which 8,423 properties were found to be dispute-free, representing about 69 percent of the total surveyed properties.
The process of issuing smart property cards for them is being initiated, she added.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta further stated that the Delhi government would issue smart plastic property ownership cards to provide citizens with modern, secure digital documents. These will be high-quality PVC cards compliant with UIDAI standards.
She further explained that each card would display the Property Identification Number (PID), date of issue, village, sub-division, district, name of the occupant, father’s or husband’s name, share/stake, total area, built-up and open area, Bhu-Aadhar number, details of co-occupants, and contact number.
The SVAMITAV scheme, steered by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, was launched in 2020 to provide legal ownership of rural residential land through drone-based surveys.
Under the scheme, the boundaries of the ‘Lal Dora’ area are demarcated first. Following this, an aerial survey of the entire village is done using drones. Revenue Department officials then visit the site to verify the drone survey maps against ground realities. If any discrepancies are found, a report is sent to the Survey of India, and necessary rectifications are made.
