JP Nadda targets Sukhu govt over governance, healthcare projects

Kullu, Oct 11 (IANS) Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of misgovernance, financial mismanagement and delays in key development projects.
Addressing a convention of public representatives and party workers in Patlikuhal in Kullu district, Nadda alleged that nearly four years of the Congress rule under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu had been marked by administrative disorder, flawed policies and the ineffective utilisation of funds provided by the Centre.
He said the state government had failed to complete several important projects within their stipulated timelines despite substantial financial assistance from the Narendra Modi-led government. Nadda also criticised Chief Minister Sukhu for repeatedly accusing the Centre of neglecting Himachal Pradesh, asserting that the Union government had extended significant support to the state in infrastructure, healthcare, railways, highways, industrial development and public welfare.
“Whenever Chief Minister Sukhu is questioned about development, he blames Delhi. The reality is that the Central government has provided substantial financial assistance, but the Congress government has failed to utilise the resources available to it. The problem is not a shortage of funds but the state government’s inability to manage development projects,” Nadda said.
He further alleged that the Congress government had disrupted development activities, closed educational and healthcare institutions, and delayed projects initiated during the previous BJP regime.
According to Nadda, the state’s residents were bearing the consequences of administrative failures and misplaced priorities. Congratulating BJP-supported candidates and party workers on their performance in the recent local body elections, the Union Minister said the results reflected growing public support for the BJP and dissatisfaction with the Congress government.
He claimed that BJP-supported candidates had won 11 of the 17 wards in the Dharamsala Municipal Corporation and 12 of the 14 wards in Mandi. Nadda further claimed that BJP-backed candidates had secured 190 of the 251 Zila Parishad seats, highlighting the party’s performance in Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti and other districts.
Congratulating party workers on what he described as a clean sweep of all four seats in the Manali area, he said the results had strengthened the organisation’s morale and demonstrated the importance of maintaining close contact with the public.
Looking ahead to the 2027 Assembly elections, Nadda expressed confidence in the BJP’s organisational strength and urged party workers to intensify grassroots activities, strengthen public outreach and remain connected with local communities.
