Jaya Kishori on her first-ever ‘Divine Concert’: Wanted to create a space for families to connect

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Spiritual orator Jaya Kishori presented her first-ever ‘Divine Concert’ backed by Saregama Live and Epitome Live in Mumbai. The evening, filled with devotional music, also featured live musicians.

‘Divine Concert’ aimed to alter bhajans in such a way that they would resonate across generations while keeping the spiritual essence absolutely intact.

Many prominent personalities were also a part of the soulful evening. The list of attendees included the Meet Bros, Salim Merchant, Manoj Muntashir, Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, Sachet-Parampara, along with others.

Revealing her idea behind ‘Divine Concert’, Jaya Kishori shared that this is her attempt to motivate youngsters to embrace spirituality. She added that she further wanted to show that traditional music can be equally uplifting and inspiring as modern tunes.

She said, ”I wanted to create a space where families could come together, leave behind the stress of everyday life, and connect through music. One of my biggest hopes was to encourage younger audiences to experience spirituality in a way they could relate to. By presenting bhajans with the scale and energy of a live concert, I wanted to show that our traditions, music, and roots can be just as uplifting, joyful, and inspiring in a modern setting.”

Talking about this latest initiative, Siddharth Anand Kumar, Executive Vice President – Films, Series & Events, Saregama, added, ”Live entertainment is constantly evolving, but at its heart it has always been about bringing people together. We believe experiences rooted in our culture can be presented in ways that feel contemporary without losing their authenticity. ‘Divine Concert’ is an extension of that belief, a format that celebrates devotional music while creating a shared live experience that resonates across generations.”

Even as the bhajans were over, many from the audience stayed back, simply soaking in the atmosphere and reflecting on the evening they had experienced.
