India’s engineering goods exports rise 21 pc in June, Oman shipments jump five‑fold

New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) India’s engineering goods exports rose 21 per cent YoY to $11.48 billion in June, up from $9.51 billion a year earlier, driven by strong demand from the United States, Germany, China, Singapore and Oman, a statement said on Monday.

The statement from EEPC India said that engineering exports to Oman surged over five‑fold year‑on‑year to $258.97 million.

The United States remained the top destination in June with shipments of $1.95 billion, and shipments to China jumped 74 per cent to $361.47 million.

“Engineering goods sector has adapted to the changed trade scenario and shown immense resilience, but the engineering community needs to remain watchful of emerging challenges,” said EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha.

India’s engineering exports showed an uptick in all regions during the month. Country-wise decline was noted in Middle East countries including UAE and Saudi Arabia. However, exports to Oman increased by 420 per cent year-on-year in June.

This significant increase, just after the implementation of the India-Oman FTA, helped Indian engineering exports to remain positive in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.

The statement added that 27 of 34 engineering panels recorded year‑on‑year growth in June exports, while seven panels including lead and products, IC engines, machinery for ATMs, cranes, lifts and winches, office equipment and prime mica saw moderation.

“The engineering exports sector has shown immense resilience in the wake of global uncertainty and trade flow disruptions stemming from the crisis in West Asia and the Middle East. Engineering goods exports in the last three months of the current fiscal have stayed above US$10 billion. We need continuous assistance from the Government of India to continue the growth momentum,” Chadha said.

The government data showed that the share of engineering in India’s total merchandise exports stood at 28.4 per cent during June 2026.

On a cumulative basis, Indian engineering shipments stood at $34.14 billion during the April-June quarter of 2026-27 as against $28.91 billion during the same quarter last fiscal, up 18.09 per cent.
