Lalu Prasad Yadav promoting dynastic politics: BJP

Patna, Feb 15 (IANS) Bihar BJP state president and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, criticised RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family, accusing them of promoting dynastic politics.

During the workers’ conference in Khagaria, Jaiswal sarcastically asserted that the “rule of Kauravas” will not return to Bihar, emphasising that the state’s populace has moved beyond the era symbolised by the lantern (RJD’s election symbol) and now favours the NDA, which he credits for bringing electricity and development to the region.

“People who talk about social justice start talking about family when they are in power and as soon as they go out of power, they talk about social justice,” Jaiswal said while denoting RJD as Kauravas of Bihar.

Jaiswal also criticised RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, for his Mai-Bahin Maan Yojana and the political trajectory of Delhi’s former CM Arvind Kejriwal.

“Kejriwal’s approach of offering free incentives led to his rejection by Delhi’s electorate, implying a similar fate could await Yadav in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav has become a disciple of Arvind Kejriwal,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal specifically targeted Yadav’s proposed “Mai-Bahan Maan Yojana,” which promises a monthly allowance of Rs 2,500 to women if the RJD comes to power.

He questioned the feasibility of such promises, stating that under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, women in Bihar are becoming so empowered that they might end up giving Rs 2,500 to Yadav instead.

In the same vein, Jaiswal emphasised that the public places its trust in the guarantees provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rather than in the promises made by opposition leaders.

Regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill, when journalists asked the JDU state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha why Islamic scholars said JDU might face electoral repercussions for supporting the bill.

Kushwaha dismissed these claims, accusing such scholars of commodifying Muslim votes. He defended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s track record, asserting that no other leader in independent India has done as much for the minority community as Kumar has.
