Maha: Dy CM Ajit Pawar directs timely completion of projects to avoid costs escalation
Mumbai, Feb 13 (IANS) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday directed all departments to maintain coordination and ensure timely completion of various development projects to avoid cost escalation.
At the meeting of Project Monitoring Unit (PMU), he said: “Delays lead to a significant increase in project costs and ultimately leave the state in losses. To avoid this, focus on completing the projects on time.”
He also asked the administration to follow-up with the Union Health Ministry to set up AIIMS in Pune.
“Pune’s traffic congestion is serious and should be given priority. The Pune Ring Road project should be expedited to ease traffic congestion. With lakhs of new vehicles hitting the roads annually, the pressure on Pune’s transport system is increasing. Work on metro projects, flyovers, the ring road, and other ongoing infrastructure projects should be accelerated to ensure a seamless commute in Pune. All departments involved in these projects should coordinate effectively to relieve Pune residents from traffic congestion,” said Pawar.
Additionally, he instructed to assess the feasibility of the ‘Karjat-Bhimashankar-Khed-Shirur’ road, which is crucial for improving connectivity in rural Pune.
Deputy CM Pawar also reviewed the progress of projects, including the planned skywalk in Lonavala, Pune-Nashik Greenfield Semi High-Speed Railway, regional centers of the Sarathi Institution in various cities, and infrastructure developments like Satara Medical College, Alibaug Medical College, Satara Sainik School, Rewas-Reddy Coastal Highway, GST Bhavan in Wadala, and several other major projects.
