Double-engine govt in Bengal delivering exceptionally, says BJP

Kolkata, July 28 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said the double-engine state government in West Bengal under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has begun delivering development at an unprecedented pace in the first three months of its tenure.
The BJP’s Information Technology Cell Chief and the party’s co-in-charge for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, issued a social media statement on this on Tuesday.
In the statement, he also provided a list of development activities fructifying in West Bengal in the last three months.
The list provided by Malviya includes the proposed new state university in Jalpaiguri district expanding higher education opportunities across North Bengal, a 2,400 MW of new thermal power capacity, two 800 MW units at Santaldih under the PPP model, and one 800 MW unit at Bakreswar by WBPDCL with an accumulated investment of Rs 10,070 crore.
“A dedicated startup policy is being rolled out to spur innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and job creation. Amul has proposed a mega ice cream plant in North Bengal, building on its Rs 700 crore Sankrail dairy project. At the same time, 10-12 closed tea gardens are set to reopen under the PM Cha Shramik Yojana, reviving livelihoods across the region,” Malviya’s statement read.
He also highlighted in his social media statement proposals to develop the Sundarbans area in West Bengal as a world-class eco-tourism destination, developing a 4,500-hectare conservation reserve in Purulia district and a 1,000-acre tiger safari project in Jhargram district.
“From education and energy to infrastructure, industry, tourism, and employment, West Bengal is witnessing decisive governance and tangible outcomes. This is the power of a double-engine government, moving with speed, delivering with intent, and transforming lives,” the statement by Malviya read.
In fact, immediately after taking the oath as the state’s ninth Chief Minister in May this year, Suvendu Adhikari said that one of his primary objectives would be to ensure overall economic development through facilitating big-ticket investments and thereby address the burning problem of unemployment in the state.
Accordingly, the new state government led by him has brought about a major change in the land policy, easing the process of land procurement for industry.
