Hyderabad, Sep 13 (IANS) BJP floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly, Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, on Sunday said that the monsoon session of the Assembly was not a genuine legislative proceeding, but a drama staged by the Congress and BRS parties.
Expressing his strong indignation over the session, which concluded on Saturday, he stated that the people closely observed the conduct of the Assembly sessions over the past five days.
He alleged that the Congress government is making desperate attempts to silence the BJP as it raises public issues.
He criticised ministers for what he called misleading the Assembly and cutting off microphones whenever the BJP responsibly raised its voice against corruption and land irregularities.
Maheshwar Reddy ridiculed the BRS and Congress parties for colluding to waste the House’s time by trading insults during the first three days.
He mocked Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy for speaking ‘incoherently’ for four hours on the final day over the issue of the ’22A’ prohibited list, without offering any clarity on resolving the problems faced by 50 lakh farmers and the poor.
He termed the minister’s claim that the courts determined the ’22A’ sections as proof of his lack of understanding, clarifying that it is the legislature that enacts laws and the government that issues GOs, not the courts.
Maheshwar Reddy presented video footage to the media showing ministers admitting in the Assembly that a forensic audit into the irregularities of the Dharani portal during the previous BRS government’s tenure had revealed shocking truths, including the alienation of approximately 23 lakh acres of land through 13,000 transactions. He questioned why the government was not cancelling these registrations and reclaiming the lands despite being aware of such a massive scam.
He pointed out that a registration document is not a title deed and demanded to know why the government was delaying action when it possessed the full authority to cancel fraudulent registrations.
He asked why the Congress government, which alleges that a massive plunder took place, had not yet made the audit report public, even months after assuming power; he further questioned whether the newly constituted SIT was merely a ploy for “fixing” deals rather than a genuine inquiry. He demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge into this entire land scandal.
The BJP leader alleged that a new scheme is currently underway to cheaply acquire thousands of acres of assigned land in the vicinity of Hyderabad under the guise of “Future City” or “Fourth City.” He criticised the plan, stating that they are obtaining bond papers and notarised agreements from poor assignees in advance, only to later introduce laws granting freehold rights, thereby transferring assets worth lakhs of crores into their own names.
Highlighting the transfer of 333 acres of valuable IDPL land in the Qutbullapur area to private entities, he questioned why the government was not reclaiming these lands, valued at approximately Rs 33,000 crore.
