Bihar CM inspects construction work of Patna Metro at Nehru Path; two foot-overbridges to be built

Patna, Oct 11 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday conducted an on-site inspection of the Patna Metro Rail project at Nehru Path and reviewed the ongoing construction work.
He reviewed the progress of construction work near Income Tax Golambar, High Court Chauraha and Hanuman Temple.
The Chief Minister enquired about the project’s progress and the current status of construction activities from the concerned officials. He emphasised that special attention must be paid to quality and safety standards during the Metro project’s construction and that work should be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Setting out the 2028 deadline for the project, the Chief Minister also instructed the officials to implement the construction of two foot-overbridges on the Nehru Path near J.D. Women’s College and High Court Crossing-Bihar Museum area, expeditiously, to ensure seamless and smooth pedestrian movement.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure minimal inconvenience to the general public during construction, instructing them to improve traffic management and commuting arrangements. He stated that ensuring the safety of citizens and smooth daily movement around construction sites is essential, and the convenience of the public must be prioritised alongside development work.
Describing the Patna Metro Rail project as vital for the capital’s transport system, he called for better coordination among all relevant departments and agencies to accelerate construction.
The Chief Minister further instructed the concerned officials overseeing the project that there shouldn’t be any compromise on safety or public amenities.
The two proposed foot-overbridges on Nehru Path are expected to facilitate road crossings for pedestrians.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary was accompanied by several ministers and top officials, including Cooperation Minister Ramkripal Yadav and Science, Technology & Technical Education Minister Sheila Kumari—along with Patna District Magistrate Kundan Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K.
