Hyderabad Nov 05: Telangana Raksha Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has criticised the functioning of the Right to Information (RTI) system in the state, alleging that authorities are failing to provide accurate information to applicants.

“The authorities has completely failed to provide RTI information to the applicants,’’ Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president, Telangana Raksha Sena while addressing to a press conference in the city.

Kavitha claimed that nearly 18,000 RTI applications were pending across the state. Highlighting the mounting backlog, she said officials in one district had expressed their inability to respond to 800 applications in a single day due to the pressure of pending cases.

Questioning the effectiveness of the RTI mechanism, Kavitha asked what purpose the system served if citizens were unable to obtain the information they sought. She also specifically demanded a response to the RTI queries she had raised regarding Ayyappa Society, insisting that the authorities provide the requested information.
