HM Shah to visit Dehradun on Nov 6, chair BJP core committee meet

Dehradun, Nov 4 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Dehradun on November 6 to attend a meeting of the BJP’s core committee, where discussions are expected to focus on the party’s election strategy and preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to sources, the meeting is likely to review the BJP’s organisational preparedness and discuss ways to strengthen its position in the state ahead of the Assembly elections.

HM Shah may also address a public rally during his visit, although further details of the programme are awaited.

The visit assumes significance as the BJP steps up its organisational activities and preparations for the upcoming elections.

The meeting is expected to bring senior state BJP leaders together to deliberate on the party’s political roadmap and campaign strategy.

During his visit, HM Shah will also present the President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police.

The presentation of the President’s Police Colour to the Uttarakhand Police will be a key event during the Home Minister’s visit, recognising the force’s service and achievements.

Uttarakhand is scheduled to go to the polls for the Legislative Assembly in 2027.

Meanwhile, Congress has launched demonstrations at district and state headquarters in Uttarakhand against alleged land scams and the “illegal” sale or auction of land in the state.

This is part of the Congress’ strategy to strengthen the party’s position in the Himalayan state ahead of the Assembly elections next year.

Earlier on November 2, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with senior Uttarakhand party leaders to discuss preparations for the 2027 elections in the hill state.

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Uttarakhand Congress In-charge Kumari Selja, state unit President Ganesh Godiyal, Uttarakhand Assembly LoP Yashpal Arya, and the party’s Election Management Committee head Harak Singh Rawat were among the prominent party leaders present during the meeting.

However, senior party leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat was absent.
