Visakhapatnam, Nov 2:
Five young men from Visakhapatnam who travelled to Russia in search of employment have allegedly been trapped in the Russian military and are appealing to the Indian government for their rescue.
According to reports, the youths were allegedly promised jobs in food packaging at a Russian military facility by a Nepalese agent. However, after reaching Russia, they were reportedly recruited into the military and are now facing the threat of deployment in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Three of the five youths have allegedly been sent to the battlefield, and their whereabouts have remained unknown for the past two months. The remaining two are also reportedly facing the risk of being deployed to the conflict zone.
In a video message circulated on social media, the youths appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government to intervene and ensure their safe return to India. They also urged the Andhra Pradesh government to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and facilitate their repatriation.
The incident has once again raised concerns over Indian youths being allegedly lured abroad with employment promises and subsequently forced into military service.
