Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh Nov 02: A viral video allegedly showing a live rat being set on fire has prompted police action in Jhansi, where four youths have been booked in connection with the incident.
The accused have been identified as Junaid Qureshi, Zeeshan Qureshi, Ashiq Qureshi and Shafiq, reportedly residents of the Orchha Gate locality.
According to media reports, the video circulated on social media before Kotwali police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the four men.
They have been booked under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with mischief by killing or maiming an animal.
Circle Officer (City) Priya Singh said the matter was under investigation and further action would be taken in accordance with the law.
