Mancherial, October 29: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught Grama Palana Officer (GPO) D. Srinivas of Mosam village in Mancherial district while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹22,000.
According to ACB officials, Srinivas had demanded the money from a complainant to submit a report to higher authorities for correcting the complainant’s father’s name in revenue records. The correction was required to facilitate the succession of agricultural land.
A team from the ACB’s Adilabad Range caught Srinivas red-handed at his office while accepting the bribe. The officials recovered the tainted amount from his possession.
The accused was arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Karimnagar, the ACB said.
The bureau has appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials through its toll-free helpline, 1064.
