MBT Condemns Damage To Over 100-years Old Dargah In Shamshabad

The Freedom Press
Hyderabad, October 29: Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), here on Thursday strongly condemned the alleged damage to the boundary wall and iron mesh of the more than 100-year-old Dargah Hazrat Syed Ibrahim Shah Qadri Hussaini, located at Saath Amrai, Shamshabad. He alleged that a group of 20–25 persons associated with the BJP/RSS had obstructed repair work and damaged the newly repaired portions of the Dargah in the presence of Shamshabad Police.
Mohammed Yousuf Qadri, Mutawalli of the Dargah, stated that the Urs-e-Shareef is approaching and that repair work was being undertaken to restore the damaged boundary wall and iron mesh. He also explained that following the construction of a bridge in the area, rainwater had started entering the Dargah premises, causing concern about the condition of the religious site.
According to the Mutawalli, some local residents had objected to the repair work on the previous day. He was subsequently called to Shamshabad Police Station and allegedly instructed to stop the repairs.
However, when the Mutawalli resumed the repair work early this morning, a group of approximately 20–25 persons allegedly arrived at the site, stopped the work, damaged the newly repaired portions and further damaged the existing boundary wall and iron mesh. The group allegedly raised “Jai Siya Ram” slogans and threatened the Mutawalli.
Amjed Ullah Khan alleged that the incident took place in the presence of Shamshabad Police personnel, who failed to prevent the damage. He further alleged that the police threatened the Mutawalli against carrying out any work at the Dargah instead of ensuring the protection of the religious institution and its property.
As soon as he learnt about the incident, Amjed Ullah Khan rushed to the spot and brought the matter to the notice of Azmath Ullah Hussaini, Chairman, Telangana State Wakf Board, and Asad Ullah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Telangana State Wakf Board. He urged them to immediately submit a written complaint to Shamshabad Police and take all necessary steps to restore the damaged boundary wall and iron mesh, protect the Dargah and ensure that the Urs-e-Shareef is conducted peacefully.
