Rajanna Sircilla Oct 28: A 28-year-old man, identified as Zubair, was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape and assault a tribal woman in the Yellareddypet area of Telangana’s Rajanna Sircilla district.
According to reports, local BJP workers caught the accused near a bus stand and handed him over to the police, who subsequently arrested him.
Following the incident, a BJP worker made allegations of a broader threat to Hindu women from Muslim youths, claiming that some individuals were exploiting Hindu girls. A BJP worker said the Hindu community would not tolerate such conduct and described protecting Hindu women as its responsibility.
However, Sircilla Sub-Divisional Police Officer K. Nagendra Chary dismissed claims of a communal angle in the case. He said the accused had a history of harassing women but maintained that the incident was not communal in nature.
Police have emphasised that the case should be viewed in the context of the alleged offence rather than given a communal interpretation.
