Hyderabad, October 28: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday trapped Mirchowk Police Station Inspector M. Kondal Rao and Home Guard Abid Ali for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹6 lakh and accepting an initial payment of ₹3 lakh from a complainant in exchange for closing a case registered against his father, avoiding coercive action and providing future support.
According to an ACB press note, the tainted amount of ₹3 lakh was recovered from the possession of the Home Guard. Both officials were arrested and are being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The ACB said the case is under investigation and the complainant’s details have been withheld for security reasons.
The bureau has urged the public to report demands for bribes by government officials through its toll-free number 1064. Citizens can also contact the Telangana ACB through WhatsApp at 9440446106 and its official social media platforms.
