HYDERABAD, Oct 24
Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, IAS has directed district collectors to ensure that all eligible network hospitals in the state are enrolled under the PM Rahat scheme to provide timely treatment to road accident victims.
Reviewing the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation Scheme through a video conference with district collectors, Superintendents of Police and transport officials, Jaju said accident victims could receive treatment worth up to ₹1.5 lakh if admitted to a nearby hospital during the crucial golden hour.
He said that while more than 1,000 hospitals were empanelled under the state’s Aarogyasri scheme, only 469 had enrolled under PM Rahat. He directed collectors to take steps to bring the remaining eligible hospitals into the scheme, which could facilitate at least ₹100 crore in treatment support annually and reduce the burden on Aarogyasri.
The Chief Secretary stressed that hospitals must follow the prescribed procedures, including police investigation requirements, to provide treatment under the scheme.
Transport Commissioner Ilambarthi, Health and Medical Department Principal Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu, and Aarogyasri CEO Jendagi Hanumanthu participated in the video conference.
