HYDERABAD, Oct 24
Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has directed officials to prioritise rural employment, water conservation and the creation of durable village assets in view of the possible impact of El Niño, water scarcity and challenges in agriculture.
Reviewing the implementation of the VB-G RAM G scheme and the progress of employment guarantee works, the minister instructed officials to prepare an eight-month action plan to ensure employment for labourers throughout the year. She directed them to complete mandal-level work plans by October 30 and be ready to launch works from November 1.
The 370 approved categories of works should be prioritised according to local needs, weather conditions and labour availability, with at least 50 key works selected from the identified 318 categories. She also stressed regular reviews every two months and called for action against District Rural Development Officers who failed to accelerate implementation.
Seethakka emphasised repairing canals to prevent water wastage and taking up works to improve water storage and groundwater levels. Special Chief Secretary for Panchayat Raj Dana Kishore, Commissioner Divya Devarajan, and Engineers-in-Chief Krupakar Reddy and Jagadishwar attended the meeting. District Rural Development Officers, executive engineers, deputy executive engineers and mandal parishad development officers participated through video conference.
