Late-Night Loitering, Staring Trigger Concerns Over Rising Clashes in Hyderabad

By The Freedom Press
Hyderabad: Late-night loitering, sitting in public places and staring at one another have increasingly become points of contention, with minor disagreements sometimes escalating into violent clashes and, in extreme cases, fatal attacks.
Youngsters, particularly those aged between 15 and 25, are often seen gathering near restaurants, roadside eateries and pan shops late at night. While many gather for leisure, residents have expressed concern that arguments over seemingly trivial issues can sometimes turn violent.
In a recent incident, a video showing a clash between two groups surfaced on social media. The incident reportedly occurred within the limits of Golconda Police Station on Thursday midnight. However, the exact cause of the altercation has not yet been established.
Police are examining the video and gathering details to determine the circumstances that led to the clash.
Residents have urged the police to increase night patrolling and keep a close watch on eateries, pan shops and other locations where groups tend to gather late at night. They have also called for measures to prevent public disturbances and ensure the safety of people in residential neighbourhoods.
Citizens say timely intervention by the police and strict action against those involved in violent behaviour could help prevent minor disputes from escalating into serious incidents.
Residents have stressed that the objective should not be to restrict people from gathering in public places, but to ensure that late-night gatherings do not become a source of nuisance or threaten public safety. (eom)
