‘May patience, righteous conduct flourish in everyone’s life’: CM Yogi extends greetings on second day of Navratri

Lucknow, Oct 12 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday extended greetings to the people on the second day of Shardiya Navratri, offering prayers to Maa Brahmacharini, the second manifestation of Goddess Durga, and expressing hope that her blessings would inspire patience, self-discipline and righteous conduct in everyone’s life.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister paid his respects to the goddess, who is worshipped on the second day of the nine-day festival dedicated to Goddess Durga.

“On the sacred occasion of Sharadiya Navratri, I offer countless salutations to Maa Brahmacharini, the second manifestation of Jagat Janani Maa Bhagwati. I pray that, through the grace of the Mother Goddess, who presides over penance, sacrifice and self-restraint, patience and righteous conduct may flourish in everyone’s life,” he wrote.

In a separate message addressed to the people of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi extended his heartfelt greetings on Sharadiya Navratri, describing it as a sacred festival celebrating the victory over Mahishasura and the worship of divine power.

“My respected people of the state, heartfelt best wishes to all of you on the sacred festival of Shardiya Navratri, which celebrates the victory over Mahishasura and the worship of divine power,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister said the nine forms of the goddess embody the triumph of humility, courage, strength, determination, justice, and righteousness over arrogance, obstinacy, attachment, and growing negative tendencies.

“The spirit of the victory of humility, courage, strength, determination, justice and righteousness over arrogance, obstinacy, attachment and growing negative tendencies is embodied in the nine forms of the Mother Goddess. Even today, when society struggles against such tendencies, Navratri reminds us that goodness becomes truly effective only when it is backed by strength and determination,” he said.

Highlighting the state’s cultural and social progress, CM Yogi said Uttar Pradesh was emerging as a strong centre for the revival of faith, culture and traditions. He added that efforts were being made to provide daughters with education, security and equal opportunities to make this vision meaningful.

Calling on people to go beyond religious observances, the Chief Minister urged them to commit to women’s safety, girls’ education, and women’s empowerment.

“Come, on this sacred occasion of Navratri, along with worship and fasting, let us also take a pledge to become the voice of any sister who needs protection, support a girl child’s education and stand by any woman on her path towards becoming self-reliant,” he said.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also extended wishes on the occasion, saying: “Today is the second day of Navratri, the special day for the worship and devotion of Maa Brahmacharini. Endless salutations to her. Maa Brahmacharini is the symbol of restraint, discipline, and austerity. May Devi Maa bestow patience and strength upon all.”

Shardiya Navratri 2026 Day 2 falls on Monday, October 12, and is dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, the second form of Goddess Durga.

After worshipping Maa Shailputri on the first day, devotees seek Maa Brahmacharini’s blessings for patience, wisdom, self-discipline and spiritual growth. The day is associated with devotion and perseverance, reminding people that determination and faith can help them overcome challenges.
