PM Modi’s birthday: Rajnath Singh flags off ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ from Varanasi to Vadnagar
Varanasi, Sep 17 (IANS) On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday flagged off a ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ from Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) to Vadnagar in Gujarat, highlighting the Prime Minister’s extraordinary personality, able leadership and relentless dedication to service.
The Defence Minister said that PM Modi has given his life true meaning and significance through his extraordinary personality, able leadership and relentless dedication to service.
“A great leader doesn’t just build roads and bridges, but also makes people self-reliant and empowered! Under the leadership of PM Modi, today India’s youth, women, and small business owners are laying the foundation of the country’s bright future with their own strength,” he added.
He said the ‘Seva Sankalp Yatra’ commencing on Thursday is not merely a means of traversing the geographical distance between two places; rather, it is a sacred spiritual and social journey connecting the birthplace of PM Modi with his ‘karmabhoomi’, Kashi.
Praising PM Modi, Rajnath Singh added, “Where others see problems, PM Modi seeks solutions and possibilities. Through his tireless efforts, from Kashi’s meenakari to Muradabad’s brasswork, India’s centuries-old heritage and crafts are today reaching every corner of the world.”
The Yatra is being organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ as a means of serving the people, the Defence Minister said, adding that during the journey the waters of Varanasi and Vadnagar will be exchanged and used for the Jalabhishek of Hatkeshwar Mahadev and Baba Vishwanath.
He said the objective of this journey is to connect public sentiments, reach the last person through service activities, and highlight PM Modi’s 25 years of dedicated service to the people.
Rajnath Singh offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and distributed laddoos to the bikers who will travel from Varanasi to Vadnagar under the ‘Seva Yatra’ and spread the message of PM Modi’s 25 years of service.
During the launch programme, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Uttar Pradesh BJP President Pankaj Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar, Minister of State Jagdish Patel, Lok Sabha MP V.D. Sharma and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were present.
The Defence Minister said that the true legacy of a leader is not confined merely to government files, but lives on in the hearts and sentiments of the people.
He highlighted that PM Modi-led Union government’s achievements include an end of Naxalism, integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the mainstream by abrogating Article 370, pulling crores of citizens out of poverty, ensuring equal participation of women in Parliament, and safely bring back Indians stranded abroad during crises such as those in Syria, Afghanistan and the Russia-Ukraine war.
He said an ordinary leader merely builds infrastructure, but a great leader makes society self-reliant and filled with confidence.
“Through initiatives such as the Mudra Yojana, Startup India, Skill India and the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, crores of youth and women have been given opportunities to stand on their own feet,” the Defence Minister added.
“As a result, more than three crore women have today become ‘Lakhpati Didis’, setting a new example of self-reliance. Following the devastation caused by the Gujarat earthquake in 2001, the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi Ji transformed the pace of Gujarat’s development,” Rajnath Singh said.
Alongside this, the Defence Minister launched the ‘Samaras Gram Yojana’, which established a system of electing village heads unanimously through mutual consensus, without elections or factionalism.
This made it possible for villages to develop without discrimination, Rajnath Singh said.
