Yogi Cabinet’s big push: 23 proposals cleared across infrastructure, jobs, education and welfare
Lucknow, Sep 15 (IANS) The Cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence on Tuesday, approved 23 important proposals aimed at strengthening infrastructure, education, employment, agriculture, healthcare, industrial development and public welfare.
State Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna and Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh briefed the media on the decisions.
A major decision was the approval of a revised proposal for the 15.172-km Chitrakoot Link Expressway, a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway to be constructed in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode at an estimated cost of Rs 1,008.67 crore.
The entire expenditure will be borne by the Uttar Pradesh government, and a global bid will be invited to select the construction agency.
The project is expected to improve connectivity from Bundelkhand to Chitrakoot Dham and boost tourism.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet also approved a proposal to develop primary schools under the Basic Education Council as smart schools, aimed at improving education infrastructure and providing modern learning facilities to students.
Under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, small and marginal farmers will be eligible for long-term loans of up to Rs 6 lakh at an annual interest rate of six per cent through the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank Ltd.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved 20 per cent horizontal reservation and age relaxation for former Agniveers in direct recruitment to the posts of Enforcement Constable (Transport) and Jail Warder.
Agniveers who complete four years of service will receive the reservation within their respective category. Their four-year service will be counted for determining the maximum age, along with a further relaxation of up to three years. The overall reservation ceiling will remain within 50 per cent.
The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier approved similar 20 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in police recruitment.
The induction of former Agniveers as jail warders is expected to strengthen prison security, particularly in facilities housing terrorists and notorious criminals, by utilising their training, discipline and operational experience.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet further approved cashless medical treatment for Provincial Armed Constabulary. The scheme will cover Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) volunteers and their dependent family members under the Mukhyamantri PRD Cashless Medical Scheme. It also approved an increase in PRD duty allowance rates.
To promote manufacturing and employment, the Uttar Pradesh Toy Manufacturing Promotion Policy-2025 was approved. Other industrial decisions included establishment of a 120 KLPD ethanol plant at Chhata Sugar Company Ltd in Mathura through concession-cum-lease, and approval of an MoU among the state government, Fisheries Department and WorldFish for implementation of a WorldFish project in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
For national security, around 65 acres of barren land in Pure Lal Khan village of Milkipur tehsil in Ayodhya will be allotted free of cost to the Centre for an NSG Regional Centre.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet also approved enhanced financial powers for engineering department officials, exemption from stamp duty and registration fees on lease deeds of up to 10 years, amendments to the policy governing Automated Testing Stations for vehicle fitness, and an additional Rs 25 per quintal margin money for fair-price shop dealers based on foodgrain distributed.
In urban development, funds were approved for developing Lucknow, Unnao and Raebareli under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Vistaarikaran Yojana, besides approval of a proposal concerning completion of the sanctioned high-tech township project in Lucknow.
