Bihar govt transfers six senior IAS officers in a major administrative reshuffle

Patna, Aug 28 (IANS) The Bihar government has once again transferred six senior IAS officers as part of a fresh administrative reshuffle.

The General Administration Department issued a notification regarding the transfers on Friday.

The changes also include new postings for the Deputy Development Commissioners (DDCs) of Nawada and Kaimur districts.

According to the notification, Ujjwal Kumar Singh, a 2011-batch IAS officer serving as Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, has been transferred and appointed Special Secretary in the Rural Development Department.

Shrikant Shastri, a 2012-batch IAS officer who was awaiting posting, has been appointed Director of the Animal Husbandry Department.

Shastri previously served as the District Magistrate of Begusarai and was transferred from the post only last week.

Vivek Ranjan Maitreya, a 2017-batch IAS officer and former District Magistrate of Siwan, has been appointed Additional Secretary in the Information and Public Relations Department.

Meanwhile, Nitin Kumar Singh, a 2018-batch IAS officer who was awaiting posting, has been appointed Director of the Secondary Education Department.

The reshuffle also affects two district-level officers. Nilima Sahu, a 2021-batch IAS officer serving as DDC of Nawada, has been transferred and appointed Joint Secretary in the Health Department.

Divya Shakti, a 2022-batch IAS officer and DDC of Kaimur, has been appointed Commissioner of the Excise and Prohibition Department.

She has previously held important administrative responsibilities in Patna.

The latest reshuffle comes just days after the Bihar government transferred a large number of IAS officers, indicating continued changes in the state’s senior administrative machinery.

On Wednesday (August 26), the state government transferred and posted nine officers of the Bihar Administrative Service.

According to the notification, Ajay Kumar, Senior Deputy Collector of Gopalganj, was posted as Land Reforms Deputy Collector, Darbhanga; and Vishal, District Panchayati Raj Officer of Sitamarhi, was appointed Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Hajipur.

Sujit Kumar, District Panchayati Raj Officer of Jehanabad, was posted as SDO, Areraj; Om Prakash Lal, Senior Deputy Collector of Rohtas, as SDO, Jagdishpur; and Santosh Kumar, Land Reforms Deputy Collector of Bikramganj, as SDO, Madhubani Sadar.
