Jackie Shroff remembers music maestro Kalyanji on his 26th death anniversary
Mumbai, August 24 (IANS) Bollywood star Jackie Shroff remembered legendary music composer Kalyanji Virji Shah on his 26th death anniversary on August 24.
Jackie Shroff shared a monochrome picture of Kalyanji on his social media account, accompanied by the iconic song ‘Jeevan Se Bhari Teri Aankhen’ from the 1970 film Safar.
The song, sung by Kishore Kumar, was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and penned by lyricist Indeevar.
Directed by Asit Sen, ‘Safar’ starred Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Feroz Khan, Aruna Irani and Ashok Kumar.
Talking about Kalyanji, one half of the celebrated music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji, passed away on August 24, 2000, at the age of 72.
For the uninitiated, Kalyanji and his younger brother Anandji Virji Shah formed the iconic Kalyanji-Anandji duo, whose career spanned mant decades and more than 250 films.
Their collaboration produced a long list of evergreen songs. Among their most remembered compositions are ‘Zindagi Ka Safar’ and ‘Jeevan Se Bhari Teri Aankhen’ from Safar, ‘Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz’ from Kora Kagaz, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’ from Blackmail, ‘O Saathi Re’ from Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, ‘Khaike Paan Banaraswala’ and ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ from Don, and ‘Laila O Laila’ from Qurbani.
Anandji, born on March 2, 1933, is 93 years old in 2026. He remains associated with music and has continued to speak about the duo’s work and legacy.
Talking about Jackie Shroff, the actor makes it a point to always remember important dates of important people from the entertainment industry.
The actor has been apart of the Hindi film industry for over 40 years with his debut movie being ‘Hero’, which was directed by ace filmmaker Subhash Ghai.
The movie also marked the Bollywood debut of actress Meenakshi Seshadri.
Jackie Shroff was last seen in Welcome to the Jungle, which starred a large ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Tusshar Kapoor, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandes, and veteran stars Farida Jalal and Kiran Kumar.
