Nyay Yatra will serve justice to Delhi: Congress

New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) The Congress on Monday highlighted that its ‘Nyay Yatra’ in Delhi aims to address issues faced by the people of the national Capital, whose welfare, it claimed, has been overlooked by both the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Earlier in the day, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav announced that a ‘Delhi Nyay Yatra’ will begin on November 8, modelled after Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

The march will start from Rajghat and continue until December 4, ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, aiming to connect with residents and understand their concerns.

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera said the ‘Nyay Yatra’ will protest against the “injustice” inflicted on Delhi by the BJP at the Centre and the AAP in the state.

“The people of Delhi are watching this Yatra with hope as it stands against the years of injustice. This ‘Nyay Yatra’ will oppose injustice,” he told IANS.

Congress National Secretary and Spokesperson Alok Sharma, speaking to IANS, emphasised that the ‘Nyay Yatra’ reflects the party’s commitment to meeting the needs of Delhi’s citizens.

“Delhi tops the charts in pollution, crime, unemployment, and inflation. The ‘Nyay Yatra’ will bring these issues into focus, allowing us to communicate with the people of Delhi and hear their voices,” he said.

Meanwhile, in response to the BJP’s allegations that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi did not fully disclose her assets in her nomination forms, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera told IANS that the accusations were baseless.

Pawan Khera said, “Why accuse baselessly? Challenge us, and we will respond.”

Meanwhile, Alok Sharma, too, slammed the BJP for making what it termed as baseless statements.

“The BJP often distracts from real issues with baseless claims; the Election Commission is responsible for investigating these matters,” he said.

Sharma also questioned the BJP’s response to disasters in regions like Kerala’s Wayanad, urging the party to address real concerns.
