Jackie Shroff’s big potted plant, Rekha’s blessings, Bobby Deol’s stumble: All that happened at Anshula Kapoor’s reception
Mumbai, July 8 (IANS) Social media influencer and bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor’s wedding reception in Mumbai seemed to be a happening one.
From Jackie Shroff arriving with his signature potted plant gift to Bobby Deol almost stumbling and Rekha showering blessings over paps stationed at the venue, the reception clearly turned into a glamourous affair.
Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, known for his love for nature, presented the newlyweds with a large potted peace lily instead of a conventional bouquet.
As Jackie handed over the plant, Anshula couldn’t hide her delight, reacting with wide-eyed surprise before warmly accepting the thoughtful gift.
Later in the evening, Jaggu Dada as he is fondly called, was also spotted relishing a cone ice cream.
The evergreen Rekha added timeless grace to the evening and was seen dressed in a white and gold silk Kanjeevaram saree. The veteran actress warmly greeted the couple and blessed not just them but also the paps stationed at the venue.
Actor Bobby Deol kept things effortlessly stylish in a black three-piece suit. While posing for the paparazzi, Bobby momentarily lost his balance before instantly regaining his footing and laughing off the minor “oops” moment.
Anshula Kapoor’s half-sister and actress Janhvi Kapoor exuded elegance in a shimmering lavender saree adorned with south Indian temple jewellery.
Actors Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani arrived together, posing hand in hand for the photographers.
Shanaya Kapoor also made a stylish appearance at the reception. The actress opted for a striking black and gold ensemble featuring a shimmering bralette.
Earlier in the evening, Anshula Kapoor shared details of her cocktail ensemble on her social media account, and revealed why she chose to wear red for her first evening as a married woman.
She wrote, “For our cocktail, I knew I wanted to wear red. “It is my first evening as a married woman, celebrating this new chapter and somehow sindoori red felt like the only colour that made sense. “When Amit and I started talking about the outfit, one thought kept coming back to me – I wanted it to feel like a metaphor for who I am.
She added, “Starting with a Banarasi brocade sari, Amit Aggarwal deconstructed and reimagined it into a sculptural corseted silhouette, preserving the beauty of its original drape while transforming the pallu into a contemporary couture statement.
“It honoured tradition without feeling bound by it.
“And I think that’s exactly what this entire wedding has been about. Holding on to where I come from, while wholeheartedly embracing everything that’s ahead.”
For the cocktail evening, Anshula opted for a contemporary sindoori-red ensemble by designer Amit Aggarwal, created from a reimagined Banarasi brocade sari and transformed into a sculptural corseted silhouette with just the perfect crisp pleats.
Anshula Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late Mona Shourie Kapoor, recently tied the knot with her longtime partner Rohan Thakkar in an intimate ceremony attended by family and close friends on July 6 in Mumbai.
