BJP steps up preparations for 2027 UP polls, key ministers given district charge

Lucknow, June 3 (IANS) The BJP has stepped up preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, with the Yogi Adityanath government reshuffling district in-charge responsibilities to strengthen coordination between the organisation and the administration.
In the new list issued after the recent Cabinet expansion, several senior ministers have been reassigned districts, while newly inducted ministers have been entrusted with key regions.
As part of the changes, MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary has been made in charge of Agra and Kasganj districts, while Food and Civil Supplies Minister Manoj Pandey has been given charge of Sitapur.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will oversee Varanasi and Lucknow, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has been assigned Ayodhya and Basti, and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh will be in charge of Prayagraj and Gorakhpur.
Women Welfare Minister Baby Rani Maurya has been given charge of Etawah and Hathras, Sugarcane Development Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary of Aligarh and Firozabad, and Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh of Jhansi and Farrukhabad.
Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh will oversee Ghaziabad and Rampur, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ will handle Mirzapur and Chitrakoot, Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar will look after Azamgarh and Siddharthnagar, and Khadi and Village Industries Minister Rakesh Sachan has been assigned Raebareli and Kannauj.
Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has been given Jaunpur and Bhadohi.
Among other allocations, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay will oversee Kanpur Nagar, Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel — Gonda, Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad – Kanpur Dehat, and Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar — Ambedkar Nagar.
Ministers of State and those with independent charge have also been assigned districts. Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal will oversee Lakhimpur Kheri, Vocational Education Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal — Bijnor, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh — Mathura, Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi — Amroha, and Sports Minister Girish Chandra Yadav — Sultanpur.
Among Ministers of State, Asim Arun has been given Hardoi and Meerut, J.P.S. Rathore Sambhal and Bareilly, Dayashankar Singh Deoria and Mau, Dinesh Pratap Singh Banda and Bahraich, and Arun Kumar Saxena Badaun.
Somendra Tomar has been assigned Muzaffarnagar, Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh — Pratapgarh, Dinesh Khatik — Shamli, Sanjeev Gond — Chandauli, and Baldev Singh Aulakh — Pilibhit.
Political observers say the reshuffle reflects a calibrated effort to maintain regional balance, strengthen organisational cohesion, and ensure effective monitoring of schemes, as the BJP gears up for the next electoral battle.
