Union Ministers Kumaraswamy, Somanna lead tributes to Pahalgam victims in K’taka

Bengaluru, April 22 (IANS) Political leaders across Karnataka on Wednesday paid tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its first anniversary, reiterating India’s resolve to fight terrorism and to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy said that the pain and memory of the “brutal and barbaric” attack continue to weigh heavily on the nation’s collective conscience even after a year.
He paid heartfelt tributes to the 26 innocent lives lost in the attack, stating that their memory continues to strengthen India’s determination in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
Kumaraswamy asserted that terrorism cannot weaken the country’s spirit or obstruct its path of peace, progress, and national unity, and added that the nation’s commitment to combating terror remains firm and unwavering under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna stated: “One year ago, Pahalgam witnessed a brutal act of terror that claimed 26 innocent lives, in an attempt to divide a nation that refuses to break. India remembers every soul and every sacrifice.”
“Healing for the wounded, eternal peace for the departed, and strength, comfort, and justice for the families who continue to endure this loss. We stand united, and any threat to India’s peace will be met with firm resolve and decisive action,” Somanna added.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka said that the country remembers not just the lives lost but also carries their memory forward as a symbol of collective resolve and national unity.
“One year ago today, the soil of Pahalgam was stained by a cowardly act of terror. India does not forget, and India will not be intimidated,” he said, adding that the nation stands firmly with the families of the victims in this moment of remembrance.
BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra also paid homage to the victims, stating that the innocent lives lost in the terror attack will never be forgotten. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and said that the entire nation stands united in this moment of remembrance, with an unbreakable and resolute stance against terrorism.
Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi said that the nation pays solemn tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2025 attack and stands in unwavering support of their families. He added that the tragedy serves as a reminder of the continued need for a strong, sustained, and uncompromising resolve against terrorism in all its forms.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, remains one of the most tragic incidents in recent years, with leaders cutting across political lines reiterating their commitment to ensuring national security, unity, and peace.
The Karnataka BJP unit, taking to social media platform X, stated: “Heartfelt tribute to the 26 innocent civilians who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.”
The party also shared a poster with the title, ‘Never forget, never forgive’, reiterating its message of remembrance and resolve.
