New Delhi, March 30: Urdu Journalism Bicentenary Celebrations Committee on Wednesday celebrated 200 years of ‘Urdu journalism: 1822 -2022’ on an ambitiously large scale at India Islamic Cultural Centre, Lodhi Road in New Delhi.

Former Vice-President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari presented the “Nishan Yadgar” Award to senior journalist Jameel Ahmed Khan in recognition of his distinguished services in Urdu journalism in presence of Former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ex-MP & Diplomat Meem Afzal, MP & Editor of Akhbar-e-Mashriq Nadimul Haque and other dignitaries.

The event was presided by Massom Moradabadi who also addressed the gathering on “Introspection on the current status of Urdu Journalism and Challenges before Urdu Journalism.”

Prof. Akhtarul Wasey (JMI, New Delhi), M. Wadood Sajid, Editor, Inquilab North, Amir Ali Khan, Editor, The Siasat Daily, Dr. Syed Farooq, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
